Mechanical engineering services for a large defence systems integrator.
Noventus Role
A large Australian defence systems integrator engaged Noventus to provide a team of electrical and mechanical engineers.
Business Need
The client was undertaking several major programmes of work in the defence domain.
They were contracted to integrate their Battle Management System (BMS) onto several defence platforms, including the Supacat Special Forces Vehicles, M113, Bushmaster and Marine Landing Craft platforms.
The BMS is a proprietary software-intensive defence “Command and Control” system, providing enhanced situational awareness and operational flexibility.
The client identified a need for a trusted multi-disciplinary engineering services company to assist with these BMS integrations. Accordingly Noventus was engaged to provide an enhanced electro-mechanical engineering capability in:
- Systems Engineering
- Finite Element Analysis
- Thermal Analysis
- Electro-mechanical design (using Dassault Systèmes Solidworks software)
- Systems integration
- Electrical cable routing
The Noventus Solution
Noventus mobilised a team of Solidworks literate mechanical and electrical engineers who had significant experience and in large, complex integration projects.
The Noventus team provided a number of outcomes including:
- Identifying design interface challenges
- Travelling internationally, engaging with key overseas project stakeholders to communicate and verify critical design interfaces
- Producing alternate CAD drawings that ultimately met defence grade requirements
Noventus has a pool of experienced mechanical and electrical engineers and CAD designers with experience using Solidworks, AutoCAD and Unigraphics NX.
